Here’s what’s planned:

3-4PM: Reconciliation Workshop
The event will commence with a one-hour workshop on Reconciliation, led by Macquarie University’s Pro-Vice Chancellor Indigenous Strategy, Dr Leanne Holt. The workshop will discuss how we can build meaningful, sustainable, reciprocal relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and become a more culturally safe, informed and responsive community. The workshop will also consider how we create meaningful connections with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, exchange ideas about reconciliation, and forge new collaborations that will have positive impacts on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander success.

4-7PM: Innovation Showcase

We’ll be showcasing inspiring programs and people who are innovating in the name of Indigenous peoples and culture. Come and learn about Torres Strait Virtual Reality with Rhett Loban and Bawurra Foundation with Jesse Slocke

4-6PM: Join us for Reconciliation Celebrations
The Reconciliation Workshop will be closely followed by an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art auction, Reconciliation awards and prizes, as well as opportunities to network and engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and programs.

About Reconciliation Week 2019

To foster positive race relations, the relationship between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the broader community must be grounded in a foundation of truth. Whether you’re engaging in challenging conversations or unlearning and relearning what you know, this journey requires all of us to walk together with courage.
