27 June 2019 Recap: Make It Happen

As part of Venture Café’s June monthly theme of Exploration, we explored what we can do to make things happen.

EverEdge Global started us off with what they believe to be the 5 Key Intangible Asset Risks faced by businesses today. In the last 10 years, they have gathered many real life Intangible Asset war stories from over 1,000 client engagements and Brett Kensett-Smith shared some of the good, bad and ugly ones with us.

We then hosted our first ever $1,000 pitch night. We asked our community how they would use $1,000 to impact their community and improve the human condition, and we got so many great entries!

Congratulations to the winner Sophia Kloosterman for B&B Highway - a bed & breakfast network for native bees and birds!

Thank you to our finalists who made it happen by bringing their ideas to the table:

  • Karen Li

  • Nicholas Kakaroubas

  • Brigit Busicchia

  • and Rajesh Bhardwaj.

Each project is worthy of support.

Michael Scheelhardt and Avinash Rao then wrapped up the evening with an inspiring meditation workshop, which helped us discover how simple breathing techniques and an understanding about the nature of the mind can help employees to find purpose and empower employees to boost performance and creativity so they can better contribute to innovation. Check out the presentation here, with contact details if you are interested in their programs!
