VENTURE CAFE COMMUNITY’S INSIGHTS 💬
BUYERS BEWARE ASX ☠️
Stuart Anderson taught us about what to consider when gathering investment. Are your investors at the end of their investment cycle? Do they want a return in the next 2 years from your business? Or are they willing to reinvest for the next 7 years?
We also learnt about backdoor listings for when a business is becoming ASXy.
And so much more…
HOW TO THINK ABOUT COMMERCIALISATION OF RESEARCH 🔬
Hearing from great panelists we learnt that research is conducted first, then it becomes Intellectual property, then you start thinking of making a viable business.
In searching out commercialisation of research opportunities, researchers must seek out skilled business partners to assist in the development of go-to-market and capital raising strategies. Customer is key here, the outcome of the research needs to solve a real customer problem!
ANGELS RAISING CAPITAL 👼
The Venture Cafe Community gathered to ask questions from the brilliant Lynda Coker about what it takes to be an Angel Investor. We should invest in great ideas and high potential founders to usher in the next generation of Australia’s economic prosperity.
OFFICE HOURS 🍯
This week our community for 1:1 mentoring from seasoned business executive and entrepreneur Karl Lijun Qin on commercialisation.
Check out what cool idea’s we’ll be exploring next Thursday. We’re excited for you to join us!
Thursday Gatherings are the flagship program of the Venture Cafe Global Institute - a non-profit organisation. Hosted by Macquarie University and our partners in Sydney - we offer freely accessible programs to create a platform where students, startups, entrepreneurs, corporates, investors, government and other organisations can meet each other by ‘serendipitous encounters’ and create impact.
